More than 100,000 attended Flemington Racecourse for the Melbourne Cup to watch Kerrin McEvoy ride Almandin to victory.
The $6.2 million race, the richest handicap race in the world and the biggest sporting prize in Australia was run for the 156th time.
Some of the big favourites were include Australian-bred Jameka, and Godolphin's Hartnell and Oceanographer.
Punters were warming to Jameka for today's race, who was sitting at $8 behind favourite Hartnell on $6.
Godolphin has five runners led by Hartnell, who's coming off a win in the Caulfield Cup.
Oceanographer, Qewy, Beautiful Romance and Secret Number were the other Godolphin horses in the race.
The race also welcomeed some of Australia's biggest celebrities to the exclusive Birdcage enclosure.
