Muhamed Yucel, 22, was playing computer games in the garage of a Keysborough house when he was shot in the chest on May 2, 2017.
Two other men received single gunshot wounds.
Police have a firearm linked to the shooting and have asked fire authorities to burn an area of grassland at Eastern View Beach on Thursday afternoon, to find more evidence.

Investigators linked the shooting to outlaw motorcycle gangs and are treating Muhamed's death as a case of mistaken identity.
A dark-coloured 4WD, or similar vehicle, was seen leaving the scene and it's unknown how many people were inside it at the time of the shooting.
