Car ploughs into pedestrians on Melbourne’s Flinders Street

Police are at the scene on Flinders Street after a car hit pedestrians in the area. The driver has been arrested.

A driver has been arrested in Melbourne after ploughing into an unknown number of pedestrians on Flinders Street.

Victoria Police are currently attending the scene of the incident between Elizabeth Street and Swanston Street.

The extent of injuries is unknown at this stage. 

Police are asking any witnesses to go to the Melbourne West Police Station at 313 Spencer Street, Melbourne and all vehicular and pedestrian traffic have been asked to avoid the area. 

More to come. 

Emergency crews rushed to the scene to help attend to the injured.

All Swanson Street trams between stop 11 Collins St and Stop 14 Arts Precinct have been cancelled.
