Umit Bolat missing for nearly two months

Police are appealing for public help to find a man who was reported missing from the regional Victorian city of Shepparton in August.

Police say the disappearance of 45-year-old Umit Bolat, who had no fixed address, is suspicious after he was last seen alive late on August 12.

Umit Bolat was a long-term resident in the Shepparton and Tatura area, however had no fixed place of address at the time of his disappearance and was known to sleep in his vehicle.

Umit was reported missing by his sister on the 21st August after failing to keep a number of appointments.

He has a highly distinctive yellow Holden commodore ute with registration YOC 741.

Detectives believe someone else was responsible for leaving his highly distinctive yellow Holden Commodore ute in a local supermarket car park with the keys still in the ignition early on August 14.

Mr Bolat was a long-term resident in the Shepparton and Tatura area, however he had no fixed place of address at the time of his disappearance and was known to sleep in his ute.

His sister reported him missing on August 21 after he missed several appointments.

The Missing Persons Unit will hold a press conference in Shepparton later on Thursday morning.
