Turkish immigrants began to arrive in Australia once a bilateral agreement was signed between Turkey and Australia in 1967. Even before that, in 1966, a young Turkish couple has arrived in Melbourne. Sevil Ören Konakçı, who has come with her husband Hasan Erdoğan Konakçı, tells her first impression of Australia as a new migrant.
