Climate change may spark push to autocracy

SBS Radio Turkish Program spoke to Prof. Mehmet Ulubasoglu, the head of Department of Economics at Melbourne’s Deakin University about his latest research into the effects of climate change on the regimes of island countries. His research shows that politicians can exploit the devastation caused by extreme weather events like tornadoes to institute an autocratic regime in small island communities.
