Widely regarded as one of the world music scenes biggest stars, Mercan Dede's progressive and experimental approach to making music has seen him a constant on the international touring circuit across over 20 years and over 100 single releases. He is the first Turkish act to reach number 1 on the world music charts, was nominated by the BBC as best world music artist and his performance includes whirling dervish dancing and many traditional instruments alongside electronic elements to produce a fusion of east and west, traditional and contemporary, electronic and the handmade.
