Merkel wins fourth term, but nationalists in strong showing

Chancellor Angela Merkel has claimed victory in Germany's national elections. But her Christian Democratic Union party actually lost ground, with nationalists making a historic breakthrough. In New Zealand, negotiations have begun to form a coalition government after Saturday's general election ended in a stalemate. Neither the ruling National Party nor Labour was able to get the 61 seats required to form government outright. Both parties are now courting the leader of the anti-immigration party New Zealand First, Winston Peters, in an attempt to form a coalition government.
