The contentious medevac laws have been repealed after the government secured the crucial vote of Tasmanian Independent Jacqui Lambie.

A tearful Senator Lambie confirmed her support for the Coalition but wouldn't explain why she voted in favour prompting accusations of a 'secret deal' from Labor and the Greens.

The Prime Minister says the move will strengthen border security. However, human rights groups have expressed outrage at the federal government's vote to repeal the so–called medevac laws.
