Figen Hasimoglu, a Turkish language teacher at the Meadow heights Primary School in Melbourne, said students learning a new language grow excited when they realise there are words common between languages, which point to common characteristics between cultures, and added that SBS was doing a great service to multicultural Australia through its National Languages Competition.
