Ezgi Sahin, a physicist/electronic engineer doing her PhD in Singapore collaborated with Dr. from the University of Sydney, and they succeeded in manipulating a light wave, or photonic information, on a silicon chip that retains its overall ‘shape.’ And for those less technically literate, this means all electronic devises that use silicon chips, which mean most of them, will be faster and most efficient. Şahin spoke to SBS Turkish about how she ended up studying for her PhD at the Singapore Univeristy of Technology and Design. She also said that while she didn’t really think women in Turkey were discouraged from studying technical sciences, more female role models were needed to attract even more. (AUDIO IN TURKISH)
