The latest 'Trends in International Mathematics and Science' study still show Australian students to be in the middle of pack by international standards. The study looks at how well Year Four and Year Eight students have mastered mathematics and science. The Teachers' Union says the disparity between rich and poor students shows the need for more money for poorer schools, and more specialist mathematics and science teachers. We talked with Mr Ertugrul Mete on this issue.
