Coroner finds asylum seeker's death was 'preventable'

A coroner has delivered scathing findings into healthcare given to a Manus asylum seeker before he died, and recommended mandatory Australian inquests into all off-shore processing deaths in Nauru and Papua New Guinea.


Iranian Hamid Khazaei died four years ago in a Brisbane hospital from what started as a treatable infection.

The coroner is also calling for an overhaul of emergency health care in provided on Nauru and Manus.
