The Federal Government's negotiating skills with the Senate crossbench are set to be put to the test sooner rather than later.


The potential reinstatement of the Australian Building and Construction Commission, or ABCC, is headed for debate in the upper house.

 

The Government has fast-tracked the legislation to reinstate the building-industry regulator through the House of Representatives.

It insists it has a clear mandate to rid the sector of what it calls thuggery.

But the Government now faces a battle in the Senate, where it needs crossbench support to pass the legislation.
