Prime Minister Scott Morrison and his Government are denying a report Australians could go to the polls twice next year, for possibly separate elections for the House of Representatives and the Senate.

Fairfax Media is reporting the Government is considering the change to consolidate support before the voting.

If it happened, they would be the first separate elections in 40 years.
