Pro-government activists have stormed into the grounds of Venezuela's state legislature, beating politicians and leaving at least seven hurt.

Witnesses say pipe-wielding government supporters burst into Venezuela's opposition-controlled congress attacking and besieging politicians.

It's the latest flashpoint in a traumatic three months for the South American nation, shaken by opposition protests against socialist President Nicolas Maduro.

Opposition politician and Deputy of the National Assembly, Armando Armas was one of those injured.
