Victoria is another step closer to introducing voluntary euthanasia, with the State Government accepting all the recommendations from an advisory panel on assisted dying.

Victorians could soon become the first people in the country to have the right to end their lives.

Proposed assisted-dying laws have been outlined in a report by a parliamentary panel released late last week.

State premier Daniel Andrews says he hopes to introduce legislation later this year, followed by a conscience vote.

Previously opposed to the move, Mr Andrews says his own experience in watching his father die from cancer changed his mind.

He says the measure could bring relief to dozens of sufferers.
