The 6 things you should know about J-pop star Che'Nelle.

Australian/Malaysian J-pop star Che'Nelle recently co-hosted radio show J-pop Nation with Kitty Em. She talked about how she got started making J-pop music, what 90's R&B songs influenced her growing up and which J-pop star is her favourite.

If you don't know much about Che'Nelle, you will after reading this list. 

1. She's a singer with International appeal!

She was born in Malaysia, her family moved to Perth when she was 10 and now she’s a J-Pop star who’s also opened for the likes of Kanye West. How did it all begin….Well…

 

2. She was discovered on MySpace.

 

Che’nelle put her music up on My Space! She was discovered by a record company, flown out to America and signed! When she's not touring or releasing another album, she's still kept pretty busy because.....

 

3. She writes other people’s hits too!

 

She’s co-written Western pop songs, like Leona Lewis’ “Can’t Breathe” and Ricki-Lee’s “Hell No!”. With all that success in Western pop, you'd think that'd be enough hard work for one person.  However....

 

4. She’s no stranger to the Japanese charts.

 

Her debut album got to  number 12 on the charts in Japan and she's had three top 10 albums. In 2011, her album 'Luv Songs' went to number 3 in the charts and was certified Platinum!

 

5. This is our favourite song of hers!

 

 

Okay, not an actual fact about Che'Nelle. But we took a comprehensive survey of everyone in the office, this is our favourite...... But it may soon be replaced because......

 

6. Her new album is available in Australia today and we're celebrating!
