These K-pop stars would've had completely different names had things gone slightly differently!

One of the things that a K-pop Idol generally does before debuting is decide on a stage name, which can be quite a hard thing to do given the sheer amount of names out there. Needless to say, some of K-pop's most popular stars went through this exact process and almost debuted under different monikers.

From BIGBANG's T.O.P to MAMAMOO's Solar, here are nine K-pop idols who very nearly had different stage names.

9. Super Junior's Shindong

Shindong very nearly went by the name "Udon" - as in the Japanese noodle soup - because the SM CEO thought it would suit his "comical image"!

8. SHINee's Onew

Onew (real name Jin-ki) is actually a nickname given to the SHINee leader because the word means "soft and gentle," and seeing as how Onew is most certainly a gentle and caring person, he decided to adopt it as his stage name. Awww!

L (real name Myungsoo) is the only one in INFINITE with a stage name, and this came about because he thought he resembled the character from "Death Note"!

6. BTOB's Eunkwang

Eunkwang is his real name, but he was considering "Silver Light" as a stage name because not only is this the literal translation of his name to English, but he also wanted a name similar to G-Dragon!

5. BTS' Jimin

Jimin was originally given the choice between Baby G, Baby J, and Young Kid as his stage name, but everyone ultimately agreed that his actual name sounds better!

4. EXO's Sehun

Sehun very nearly became "Leo", but somebody realised in time that his name would've been "Oh Leo" which sounds just a bit too similar to "Oreo"!

3. MAMAMOO's Solar

Solar's real name is Yong-sun, but she originally wanted "Doremi" to be her stage name. However, the CEO of her agency came up with "Solar" instead - which is simply the next few notes in "do, re, mi, fa, SO, LA". This ultimately worked out well because Solar wanted to keep the "sun" part of her name anyway!

We all know him as T.O.P, but had things gone differently, he would've adopted the less-memorable stage name of "Mark".

1. BTS' Jungkook

Since Busan is the home to Jungkook and beloved baseball team the Busan Seagulls, BTS' Golden Maknae's original name was originally meant to be "Seagull"!
