Following the disbandment of SISTAR this part May, the group's former leader Hyolyn has also decided to part ways with the girls' company Starship Entertainment.
In a new handwritten letter posted up on her Instagram, Hyolyn stated that she intends on "striking out on her own" following seven years with Starship. While the singer expressed her fears about being a solo and independent artist, Hyolyn also shared her gratitude to Starship and all her fans for all the support she has received over the years,
Here's a translation of Hyolyn's letter:
"Hello everyone and Star1. It feels like I'm greeting you for the first time in a while. This is Hyorin. You've probably been curious about my next steps. I'm sorry for getting to you late... I wanted to tell you what's happening, so I'm writing this letter.
I considered this for a very long time. How I should make my new start, what kind of music I should show you in the future. After thinking and thinking, although I am lacking many things still, I decided to strike out on my own.
I was only able to spend the last 7 years and shine as a singer, a SISTAR member, and as Hyorin in this spot because of my Starship family and the SISTAR members. I wanted to say thank you though I'm unable to express it in words. I'll do my best to return that grace.
Though I'm a little afraid of the future, I'm excited for a new start. There may be hard and burdensome times because I'm starting alone, but I won't forget myself as Hyorin. I'll move forward energetically step by step. I thank everyone, and I thank them once again."
