Piko Taro has won over a lot of celebrities with his under-a-minute song “PPAP” over the last 12 months, leading to all sorts of surreal moments for the comedian. Now, Piko Taro is set to perform for U.S. President Donald Trump during his upcoming trip to Japan.
This comes via Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, who wants to keep the atmosphere upbeat during Trump’s visit to Tokyo from November 5 to 7. Piko Taro will take part in a special dinner organised by Japan’s PM. Abe appears to be offering up activities appealing to Trump’s personality. Besides getting to hang out with an internet meme, Trump will play a round of golf with Hideki Matsuyama, the fourth-ranked golfer in the world.
Trump has a long history with “PPAP.” One of his grandchildren loves the tune, having been recorded on Ivanka Trump’s Instagram account singing it. Trump reportedly mentioned to Abe in their first meeting following his surprise election last year how much he enjoyed the video for said song.
It’s not the first time that the world of Asian pop music has crossed with the POTUS. Earlier this year, former President Barack Obama gave a shout out to K-pop group SHINee (and In-N-Out Burger). Watch that footage below.
