There are many things that make K-pop special, but the one unique thing that makes it stand out are the fan chants.
In an interesting new thread over on Reddit, K-pop fans got into a fascinating discussion about some of the best fan chants in K-pop. With Reddit being the home to a large number of fans who have diverse tastes and interests, the answers were certainly very interesting.
Here are some of K-pop's best fan chants according to fans:
- I'm on mobile so I don't have links, but Seventeen's get pretty wild with their 13 member lineup. Like seriously, Carats may as well be the 5th member of the hip hop unit, with just how good they've gotten at their fan chants.
Fanchants are fun. My favorite video was SHINee's SHINee World IV's Lucifer at Tokyo Dome. The fan chants were super loud, unified, and clear which made it really impressive for the number of people there were.
There was also this really nice one from ELF when Kim Heechul (Super Junior) was leaving for the army. The fanchants for Mr. Simple changed to include a varied version of Heechul's own personal fanchant to say that ELF loved him and would wait for him to return.
PARK SOO YOUNG
WHEN YOU LAUGH
- BTOBs Missing You chant includes singing, not just chanting, because Melodies have to be OP too? It also includes singing along to that jaw-drapped bridge with the guys, which is such an amazing moment live, just watch it. Bonus points knowing that Minhyuk and Hyunsik made the fanchant themselves.
I love SNSD's all time fanchant:
지금은 소녀시대 (Jigeumeun SNSD = Now girls' generation)
앞으로도 소녀시대 (Appurodo SNSD = In the future girls' generation)
영원히 소녀시대 (Yeongwonhi SNSD = Forever girls' generation)
서녀시대 사랑해 (SNSD saranghae)
- Monster, one of my favourites EXO fanchants and you can hear it clearly here. Incredibly loud too considering it's only an award show.
- I really like the fanchant for TWICE's cover of So Hot by the Wonder Girls. It's basically a fanchant cover too because the original fan chant is pretty rad.
