An amateur animator has turned Spongebob Squarepants into an anime.

Twitter user and fan animator Narmak animated Spongebob and pals as dark shounen characters rivalling JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure and Hunter x Hunter.

Narmak, who is known for animating parody videos on anime and video games, including a pair of Attack on Titan meets Shrek videos called Attack on Ogre, first made a mock anime opening of Spongebob Squarepants late last year. The opening featured Spongebob, a katana-wielding Patrick and karate master Sandy clashing with a powerful antagonistic version of Squidward in Krusty Krab’s.

For the new opening animation, Cover artist RomixMusic produced a cover of the musical theme to Soul Eater’s second opening, Tommy Heavenly6’s Papermoon.
