IU's latest K-drama My Ahjussi has hit the screens.
The show's cast did an interview on Naver's V Live to talk about the show and the controversies surrounding it.
The main plot that has had people talking is between the two lead characters, played by IU and Lee Sun Kyun. Before debuting, people were concerned that there would be a love story between a man in his 40s and a woman in her 20s, because that is the age gap of the two lead characters.
In the V Live interview both Lee Sun Gyuk and IU clarified that it wasn't a straight love story.
“We’re not making a romance or fantasy drama, but telling a story about reality and people. It’s not a story that says, ‘Reality should be like this,’ and it’s not a beautification of reality. Rather, it’s a drama that says, ‘There is this kind of reality. How should we live?'” IU said on the Live (as translated by Soompi).
The actors were asked about a specific scene that was part of the episode on March 21, where the moneylender committed violence against IU.
“They fought fiercely in the first episode, so she wouldn’t be able to love someone like that. Their story will slowly unfold," IU explained (as translated by Soompi).
