10 years ago, TVXQ! released the album that would undoubtedly change their careers and put them in the list of all-time K-pop greats.
Mirotic was TVXQ!'s fourth Korean studio album, released on September 26, 2008 by SM Entertainment. It would be the last of their Korean albums to include all five members.
Mirotic was not only TVXQ!'s major commercial breakthrough album, it remains their most critically successful album to date. It was the best-selling album of 2008, and at the time broke records for first-week sales, with over 110,000 albums sold in one week alone.
It was also the first Korean album in over four years to break the 500,000 sales mark at the time.
The title track was actually met with some controversy initially, with the Korean Commission of Youth Protection stating the lyrics were too sexual and detrimental to youths. TVXQ! created a clean version of the song with the lyrics changed from "I got you" to "I chose you", and "I got you under my skin" to "I got you under my sky" when they performed it live at the 23rd Annual Golden Disc Awards.
Mirotic won the Daesang for Album of the Year at the 23rd Golden Disc Awards and the 2008 Mnet KM Music Festival. It remains the best-selling album among Korea's second generation idols.
