AKB48 member Takahashi Juri has announced that she is graduating from the J-pop girl group to pursue a career in South Korea. She relayed the news to fans during a theatre performance on March 4.

Takahashi was a contestant on music survival show Produce 48, where she finished in 16th place and didn't make it into the final group IZ*ONE.

Since then, she has been in talks with Korean entertainment companies and now confirmed that she has signed an exclusive contract with Woollim Entertainment, to debut in a new girl group. Artists currently signed to Woollim Entertainment include INFINITE, Lovelyz and Golden Child.

Takahashi made her AKB48 debut in 2012 as a 12th generation member. She has ranked in the top 16 as a Senbatsu member for the past three years. The dates for her graduation and future K-pop debut have not been announced yet, but Woollim is planning for her to debut in a new K-pop girl group.
