HIGHLIGHT's Yong Junhyung has announced his departure from the group in an Instagram post, following recent controversies involving hidden camera footage shared by Jung Joon Young in chatrooms.

Referring to the chat conversation he had with Jung Joon Young in 2016, he said:

"I did not receive a video at that time, but I did receive a video at a different instance. In addition, I participated in inappropriate conversations regarding it. All of these actions were very immoral, and I was foolish. I treated it as not a big deal without thinking that it is a crime and illegal act, and it is also my fault for not firmly restraining [Jung Joon Young]."

Staring that he doesn't want to cause further harm to HIGHLIGHT and fans, he is leaving the group as of March 14, 2019. He added: "I will live while reflecting on myself again and again. I once again apologise sincerely".

On March 11, it was reported that Yong Junhyung was allegedly one of the men in a chatroom in which Jung Joon Young shared illegal hidden camera footage. However, Yong Junhyung's agency Around Us Entertainment issued a statement explaining that the messages found were not from a group chatroom.

The agency also stated that Yong Junhyung was not in a chatroom where the hidden camera footage was shared, and has never been in a group chatroom with Jung Joon Young.

The agency originally said that the messages, were between only Yong Junhyung and Jung Joon Young, with the former asking what was going on with the Drug Restaurant frontman after he was accused of filming a woman without her consent.

UPDATE: Around Us Entertainment have now released their official statement on Junhyung's departure from the group.

In it, they apologise for the confusion surrounding their prior incorrect statement and confirm that Junhyung did in fact receive and watch an illegal hidden camera video through a one-on-one chatroom with Jung Joon Young. They confirmed this through Junhyung's witness interview on March 13.

They also said: "Yong Junhyung realised the severity of the issue and faithfully complied with the witness interview.

He is aware of the seriousness of how morally lax his past behaviours were and is deeply repenting on having disappointed many people through his past statements.

He fully understands that this incident is something that cannot be forgiven, and he is deeply reflecting on himself for disappointing and breaking the trust and love he received from fans of HIGHLIGHT and his fellow members.

Moreover, he will take full responsibility and leave HIGHLIGHT as of March 14, 2019 in order to avoid tarnishing the group’s image and causing secondary damages.

We sincerely apologise for being unable to check the exact facts, causing confusion to many people, and releasing an official statement after a hasty decision even though Yong Junhyung was involved in a shameful incident.

We will take caution to avoid such instances in the future. Once again, we apologise to the fans who truly care for Highlight. We apologise."
