The 2019 MTV Video Music Awards nominees have been announced, and this year they've added a new Best K-pop MV category.

Best K-pop MV category nominees include BTS' "Boy With Luv", BLACKPINK's "Kill This Love", EXO's "Tempo", MONSTA X's "Who Do U Love", NCT 127's "Regular" and TXT's "Cat and Dog".

BTS have four nominations overall, including Best Collaboration for "Boy With Luv" with Halsey, Best Choreography (Rie Hata) and Best Art Direction (Park Jin Sil, Kim Bo Na (MU:E)), also for "Boy With Luv".

Since the nominations were announced, many fans have pointed out that the K-pop category seems to have been created to include K-pop in the ceremony without actually integrating it into the top categories.

BTS fans especially have called out MTV for ignoring the group's record-breaking year on the US charts and on YouTube, and not recognising them in the top award categories.

You can have a look at some of the commentary below.

The 2019 MTV VMAs will take place on Monday 26 August. See the full list of nominees and vote on MTV's website.

What do you think of the new K-pop category at the MTV VMAs?
