Korean stars are supporting charities in their fight to prevent the spread of coronavirus

As coronavirus spreads around the world, with South Korea recording the highest number of cases outside of China, many Korean celebrities have come forward to offer assistance to Korean NGOs and charities. 

With donations ranging from huge supplies of face masks to monetary contributions, there's a number of charities which celebrities have been advocating through donations.

Actors Suzy and Joo Ji Hoon have donated 100 million won and 50 million won respectively, and singer IU has donated 100 million won to charity Good Neighbors. Actor Kim Go Eun has also donated 100 million won (equivalent to approximately 40,000 masks) to Good Neighbours to support low-income families, children and the elderly who can't obtain masks due to the virus outbreak.

IU has also donated the amount of 100 million won to the Korean Medical Association.

Girl's Day's Hyeri donated 100 million won to Save The Children, to be used to give emergency aid to children in Daehu as well as helping low-income families affected by the virus.

Actors Shin Min Ah, Kim Woo Bin, Jung Woo Sung and Gong Yoo have all donated 100 million won each to the Community Chest of Korea, as has Red Velvet's Irene. Her fellow members Seulgi, Joy and Yeri, as well as their labelmate TVXQ's Yunho have donated 30 million won each. Actor Park Bo Young donated 50 million won to the same organisation.

Famed comedian and variety show star Yoo Jae Suk and actor Song Joong Ki have donated 100 million won each to Hope Bridge to help people in need due to coronavirus, while ASTRO's Cha Eun Woo donated 30 million won. Singers Sunmi, GOT7's JB and Kim Yohan, as well as actor Kim So Hyun each donated 10 million won to the same charity.

SM Entertainment has also donated 500 million won to Hope Bridge, and Kang Daniel has donated 50 million won. BTS' Suga has donated 100 million won to Hope Bridge also. 

Director Bong Joon Ho has donated 100 million won under the name 'Parasite' to the Hope Bridge Disaster Relief too.

Former iKON leader B.I has donated 100,000 masks to help those who are having difficulty getting masks due to lack of supply from coronavirus. The masks are being distributed in Korea, China, Thailand, Japan, Indonesia and Vietnam.

Actor Ahn Jae Wook donated 20 million won to the Korean National Red Cross in Daegu, which has been the epicentre of the virus outbreak in South Korea.

Actor Lee Si Young donated 10 million won to the Beautiful Foundation, which will be used as an emergency fund for single mothers in Daegu.

Another Daegu donation came from actor Son Ye Jin who donated 100 million won to the Daegu Community Chest of Korea. Apink's Naeun has donated 50 million won to the same cause.

Actors Kim Hye Eun donated 50 million won to NGO Korea Food for the Hungry International, which will be used for masks and daily necessities that children from low-income families need.

Actor Kim Shin Hye has donated 50 million won to UNICEF Korea, while Kim Yuna and her fans have donated a total of 185 million won to the same organisation. Kim Yuna donated 100 million while 73,000 fans raised 85 million to donate as well.
