Entertainment agencies have apologised for their artists, after it was confirmed that they were in the Itaewon area of Seoul during COVID-19.
Itaewon, a popular restaurant and nightlife district in Seoul, has become a hot topic in Korea after a recent outbreak of COVID-19 among clubgoers. The Korean government currently has guidelines in place encouraging people to practice social distancing. Clubs and restaurants have remained open to the public within these guidelines.
Big Hit Entertainment were the first agency to confirm the report, stating that Jungkook did visit Itaewon with friends on April 25, but that it was not the place where the recent confirmed COVID-19 case came to light in early May and that his visit was a week before that case occurred. The agency apologised for his actions, adding that Jungkook felt sorry for not practicing social distancing.
Pledis Entertainment, Fantagio and SM Entertainment issued similar statements for Mingyu, Eunwoo and Jaehyun respectively, with all members apologising and agencies stating the idols are reflecting on their actions.
Although they had no symptoms of the virus, all the idols have since voluntarily gotten tested for COVID-19 and received negative results.
