40-yard own goal in English non-league

A crazy 40-yard own goal from Thurrock defender Kamarl Duncan was the highlight of their 1-1 draw with Romford in the Ryman Isthmian Division North.

Duncan attemted to clear the ball from just inside his own half way line but the Essex winds blew it back his way and into the direction of his own goal, as the ball bounced over goalkeeper Rhys Madden.

Although the goalkeeper could be blamed for his poor positioning, he is enjoying his moment in the limelight.

Thurrock's manager Mark Stimson said: "Romford's goal was something you can only describe after seeing."

The result keeps Thurrock in the top four of the division as they look for promotion into the Isthimian Premier Division, which is six divisions below the Barclays Premier League.
