Western United's clash with Sydney FC at AAMI Park and Melbourne City's meeting with Western Sydney Wanderers have both been moved to a later date, as Victoria instituted a five day snap lockdown beginning at 11:59pm tonight and ending at 11:59pm on Wednesday the 17th of February.

The W-League match between Melbourne City and Newcastle Jets at CB Smith reserve has also been postponed.

Victorian premier Daniel Andrews made the announcement earlier today as the state battles the growing Holiday Inn cluster, which currently sits at 13 confirmed cases of COVID-19.

Western United CEO Chris Pehlivanis said, "We are committed to ensuring the health, safety and well-being of all players and staff, our interstate guests from Sydney and our fans.

“We hope that the lockdown measures are eased for Victorians at the completion of the five days, and we will remain flexible and ready to prepare for upcoming fixtures as advised by Australian Professional Leagues.”

Clubs will now have to wait on advice from the Victorian Government in relation to a professional sport exemption that may allow them to continue to train during the lockdown.
