Arzani cops card for diving in Celtic defeat

Daniel Arzani's alleged A-League antics resurfaced in Scotland on Tuesday (AEST) after the 19-year-old received a yellow card for diving during a match with the Celtic reserves.

With the Hoops trailing Greenock Morton 3-1 in the second half, the Socceroos starlet fell afoul with the referee after attempting to earn his side a penalty in the 60th minute.

Arzani's subsequent booking was his last contribution to the contest before he was swiftly replaced by Thomas Caffrey just two minutes later.

It comes after his stellar free-kick caught the eye of the first-team faithful last week in a 2-0 win over the Aberdeen reserves.

Celtic's new signing drew league-wide heat from supporters during his short stint with Melbourne City last season after sprinkling an array of eye-catching cameos with similar frowned-upon tactics.

Nevertheless, manager Brendan Rodgers has since admitted the skilful winger's development remains a work in progress.

"He’s adapting to a new country after hardly being out of Australia," Rodgers said.

"And he’s still only 19. I’m sure in time he’ll prove to be a very very good young player."
