Arzani plays first game since horror ACL injury

Socceroos winger Daniel Arzani has made his long-awaited return from injury, coming off the bench for Celtic reserves in a 1-1 draw with Hibs.

The 20-year-old has been recovering for 10 months after he suffered a horrific ACL injury on his debut for the senior team against Dundee last season.

Arzani, who shone for Australia at the 2018 FIFA World Cup, played a lively 30 minutes, creating opportunities for teammates and himself.

As The World Game reported on Monday Celtic plan to start him in the reserves next Monday against Greenock Morton in the SPFL Reserve Cup before upgrading him to a full 90 minutes.

Arzani could make his comeback for the senior team in the first week of October when Celtic travel to Livingston in the league.

The former Melbourne City man has been in full impact training for the last few weeks, but the club is cautious to rush such a prestigious talent back into competitive action.

Socceroos coach Graham Arnold has been in constant touch with Arzani, who could feature for both the Socceroos and the Olyroos in the coming months.
