Aussies Abroad: Hrustic strikes again, Ryan keeps clean sheet and Sainsbury scores own-goal

Mat Ryan kept a clean sheet for Brighton as Aaron Mooy made his first Premier League start for the Seagulls, while Ajdin Hrustic scored his third goal in six matches in the Netherlands.

Mooy played 70 minutes in Brighton's 0-0 draw with Newcastle, in which the Aussie midfielder made 45 passes with an accuracy rate of 82%.

In the 28th minute, the former Melbourne City man had a difficult chance to open the scoring, however his off-balance shot sailed high and wide of the goal.

Brighton dominated possession but Ryan was still busy, making four saves to record his second clean sheet of the season.

Elsewhere in England, Jackson Irvine played 84 mins in Hull City's 3-0 win over Luton Town.

Irvine was in the thick of the action, making three interceptions and making 33 passes.

Bailey Wright not in squad for Bristol City's 0-0 draw with Swansea, Massimo Luongo was an unused substitute in Sheffield Wednesday's 1-1 draw with Fulham.

Lower down in League One centre-back Harry Souttar played 90 mins in Fleetwood Town's 2-1 win over Rochdale.

Mark Milligan played 90 mins in Southend United's first win of the season as they beat MK Dons 1-0.

In the Netherlands, Ajdin Hrustic continued his impressive form scoring his third goal in six Eredivisie matches as Groningen beat PEC Zwolle 2-0. Hrustic produced a beautiful curling effort on the edge of the box to seal the three points and move Groningen up to 12th.

In Germany, Mathew Leckie was not in the squad as Hertha Berlin won 2-1 over Paderborn, Brandon Borello was also not included in Friebug's squad as they drew 1-1 with Augsburg in the Bundesliga.

Trent Sainsbury made headlines in Israel for the wrong reasons after scoring an own-goal in Maccabi Haifa's 1-0 loss to Maccabi Tel Aviv. The Socceroos defender was attempting to defend a corner when he saw the ball come off his knee and end up in the back of the net.

Finally in Korea, Adam Taggart played 51 minutes for Suwon Bluewings in their 1-1 draw with Sangju Sangmu before being replaced by fellow Aussie Terry Antonis.
