Seeking a goal, Maclaren came on in the 76th minute for defender Lewis Stevenson.

His presence was felt not long after, scoring ten minutes later with a well-placed right-footed shot as his side shared the points with Aberdeen.

Elsewhere in the Scottish Championship, Ben Garuccio played 90 minutes for Hearts in their 1-0 win over Kilmarnock. Oliver Bozanic was an unused substitute for the victorious side.

Young midfielder Jesse Curran played 90 minutes for Dundee as they went down 1-0 to St. Johnstone.

In England, Aaron Mooy and Mathew Ryan both featured for their respective Premier League clubs.

Midfield maestro Mooy played a full match as Huddersfield Town and Cardiff City shared the points in a goalless draw, while Ryan produced a number of fine saves as Brighton & Hove Albion suffered a 1-0 loss to Liverpool.

In the Championship Mile Jedinak was again deployed in central defence, playing 90 minutes in a 1-1 draw with Reading, while Massimo Luongo helped Queens Park Rangers to their first victory of the season, a 1-0 win at home over Wigan Athletic.

In League One Ryan McGowan's Bradford City lost 2-1 to Wycombe Wanderers, Bradden Inman came on as a substitute for Rochdale as they went down 2-1 to Walsall while Scunthorpe United's Cameron Burgess scored against fellow Australian Kenny Dougall in a 2-2 draw with Barnsley.

Further abroad, Ajdin Hrustic started for Groningen in 1-0 victory over De Graafschap in the Dutch Eredivisie, while Incheon United's Kwabena Appiah-Kubi and Jeju United's Aleksandar Jovanovic went head-to-head in a goalless draw in the K League 1.
