Messi was at his magical best against Liverpool on Thursday (AEST), particularly in the second half, with two late goals enough to help Barcelona seal a 3-0 first leg advantage in their UEFA Champions League semi-final.
The Argentina international's second of the night, a phenomenal 30-yard free-kick, once again demonstrated his unmatched quality in the clutch and, according to Balotelli, was another reminder of his abilities beyond rival Ronaldo.
"For the love of football please do not compare him to the No.7 of Juventus anymore," Balotelli said via his Instagram.
Messi and Ronaldo have long-been compared throughout the years, having both scored 600 club goals and claimed a collection of silverware with their respective clubs.
But while the Juventus forward has helped his side to further Serie A success this season, Messi's continental exploits - alongside the La Liga title - have held him in higher esteem.
Since leaving Real Madrid for Turin at the start of the season, Ronaldo has scored 27 goals in all competitions, while Messi has found the back of the net an unmatched 48 times.
