The governing body announced on Friday (AEST) that the Catalan giant had been fined by the Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body for a breach of Article 16 (2) (e) of the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations.
The article states that clubs can be disciplined for "inappropriate behaviour on the part of their supporters", specifically: "The use of gestures, words, objects or any other means to transmit any message that is not fit for a sports event, particularly messages that are of a political, ideological, religious, offensive or provocative nature."
During the final in June, the Spanish press reported that there was a significant presence of banners supporting the independence movement in Catalonia while supporters are also reported to have been taking part in pro-independence chanting.
Barca defeated Juventus 3-1 in the final in Berlin to win its fifth European Cup.
