Bizarre replay ends with England qualification

England's Under-19 women's team qualified for the European Championships in bizarre circumstances after scoring a penalty in the replayed final seconds of a qualifier against Norway.

In an unprecedented move, UEFA ordered the last minute of injury time to be replayed, starting with a retaken spot-kick, five days after the original game ended in controversy when a refereeing blunder denied England the right to take the penalty again.

Leah Williamson remained cool under immense pressure to slot home from 12 yards in Friday's (AEST) brief encounter in Belfast, levelling the match at 2-2.

England held on in the final moments to secure the draw and, with it, a place in the finals in Israel on goal difference.
