Brennan, 22, has penned a two-year deal at the Jets after a trial period in the Hunter.
Jets coach Phil Stubbins says Brennan reminds him of Australia striker Mathew Leckie, who he coached while at Adelaide United.
"Andy plays in a way that can be compared to Mathew Leckie," he said.
"When Mathew came to Adelaide he was a raw, untapped talent, but he possessed pace and an eye for goal which was nurtured over time.
"(Brennan) is a player that we've identified could turn into a very good player.
"There's no pressure on him whatsoever, but we believe weve identified a gem and someone that deserves an opportunity."
Brennan grew up in Tasmania, playing for South Hobart in Tasmania's Victory League before signing for South Melbourne last year.
