Chioma Ubogagu was the star for the visitors with the Roar's flying winger netting the match winner in the 55th minute during what was a hard fought contest.

The England international and former Arsenal player was a handful for the Newcastle defence and was in the right spot at the right time to find the back of the net after an off target shot from Brisbane teammate Yuki Nagasato.

It was a frustrating outing for the Jets who failed to capitalise on their chances.

Despite the loss, Newcastle shot stopper Britt Eckerstrom was the stand out player of the match making save after save to deny a dangerous Roar attack.

The win takes Brisbane up to fourth spot on seven points, leapfrogging fifth placed Newcastle.

The Roar will face Sydney FC away from home next week while Newcastle host reigning champions Melbourne City.
