Australia attacking-midfielder Nathan Burns has scored the winning goal as well as setting up the opener in FC Tokyo’s 2-1 win over last season’s treble winners Gamba Osaka.

The former Wellington Phoenix player produced a man of the match display as Tokyo continues its charge towards a first J-League title.
Burns, who joined Tokyo last month, set up Takuji Yonemoto in the 15th minute with a smart low cross after turning the Gamba left-back inside out.

Gamba responded immediately after half-time as Brazi forward Patric swept home a headed cross in the 47th minute to make it 1-1.

Burns continued to create chances with his pace and trickery and it was in the 59th minute when he sealed all three points for Tokyo with a wonderful diving header to round off a blistering counter-attack.

Tokyo now sits in fourth place on the J-League table with 13 points from seven matches.
