The win stretched Jamshedpur's unbeaten run to six games and catapults them up to third on the ISL ladder, locked on 10 points with Goa who dropped to second.
It was a solid cameo performance from Cahill, who came off the bench in the 83rd minute.
The Australian front man would have been disappointed he couldn't add to his goals tally, especially after finding the back of the net 88 minutes in.
With Jamshedpur already leading 4-1, a long ball out of defence found winger Sameet Passi who fired a low cross into the box with Cahill coming through to fire home.
However, it wasn't to be for the Socceroos record goalscorer with the assistant referee ruling Passi had been offside when he had received the ball on the wing.
It proved to be only a minor blip in what was an impressive showing from Jamshedpur, who took over the game in the second stanza after a tightly fought first 45 minutes ended locked at 1-1.
Midfielder Michael Soosairaj was the star performer for Jamshedpur claiming a brace with goals in the 17th and 55th minute.
Brazilian import Memo added to Jamshedpur's tally in the 77th minute, while Passi wrapped up the result with a goal in the 78th.
Cahill's side's next match is on Monday morning (AEDT) as they travel to take on eighth placed Dehli Dynamos.
