It didn't take long for Cahill to make his mark on the match with the Aussie striker delivering one of his trademark headers in the third minute to give Jamshedpur a 1-0 lead.
The former Everton, Millwall and Melbourne City star broke free of his marker before rising high to nod a well placed corner kick delivery into the back of the net.
The 38-year-old celebrated with gusto sending the Jamshedpur faithful into raptures with his signature corner-post boxing celebration.
Jamshedpur looked on their way to collecting all three points at half time with a 2-0 lead as Cahill's teammate Michael Soosairaj scored after 31 minutes.
However, Cahill didn't have a fairytale end to the match as Kerala made an incredible second-half fight back with two goals inside 15 minutes - either side of the Socceroos icon being substituted in the 76th minute - to snatch an unlikely draw.
Jamshedpur are in fourth place on the ISL ladder after five matches with seven points.
Cahill's next match will be on Friday morning (AEDT) against first placed side Goa.
