Champions Leicester raring for Premier League opener against Hull

The Foxes were the biggest underdog story in world sport in 2015-2016 when they shocked everyone to beat the big spending English powerhouses Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool to claim the Premier League title.

Three months on, and Claudio Ranieri's men are back for the biggest challenge in the club's history when they will attempt to defend their crown.

A round one road trip to take on newly promoted Hull will be the first hurdle for Leicester, with both clubs determined to start their Premier League campaign on the right note.

It has been a busy off season for Leicester with the $54 million sale of midfielder Ngolo Kante bankrolling a number of astute signings by the club.

Nigerian striker Ahmed Musa leads the list of new faces at the King Power Stadium, and is joined by French midfielder Nampalys Mendy and Polish winger Bartosz Kapustka.

Ranieri has so far managed to hold onto the services of in-demand winger Riyad Mahrez and striker Jamie Vardy, but with three weeks of the transfer window to go anything could happen.

Hull enter the season opener under a cloud of doubt with coach Steve Bruce quitting a month out from the first round and injury striking down seven of the club's senior squad.

While it's uncertain what type of team will run out for the Tigers against Leicester, it's assured they will be doing everything they can to mark their return to the top flight with a win.

Prediction: Leicester City 1-0
