Cheeky Charlton's Twitter post goes viral

Charlton Athletic was a Twitter sensation on Tuesday morning (AEST) as it reacted to AFC Bournemouth's 'promotion'.

The Cherries beat Bolton Wanderers 3-0 to effectively secure a place in the Premier League next season, although it will not officially be confirmed until this weekend's clash at The Valley.

Eddie Howe's side is three points ahead of third-placed Middlesbrough with a plus-19 goal difference, and only an unprecedented turnaround can stop its ascent.

Charlton reacted cheekily, though, posting on Twitter:

The post was retweeted more than 45,000 times, with Charlton's tongue-in-cheek message also favourited over 25,000 times.
