The July 23 clash will be incoming coach Maurizio Sarri’s first game in charge of the Premier League powerhouse after he was announced Chelsea manager on Saturday.
The Italian is set to bring a quartet of the team’s biggest stars with Cesc Fabregas, Pedro, Marcos Alonso and David Luiz all expected to take to the pitch in Perth.
Twelve Chelsea players, including Eden Hazard, Thibaut Courtois, Gary Cahill, Willian and N'Golo Kante, who represented their countries at the World Cup are expected to be given a break before returning to club duty and won’t make the trip to Australia.
Chelsea returned to training at their Cobham Training Centre base last week with the trip Down Under to be the first of four preseason matches for the club.
The Blues are expected to arrive in Perth later this week with the team to likely hold an open training session for fans to see them before the match at Optus Stadium.
The match is the second time Chelsea has come to Australia in recent years with Jose Mourinho guiding them to a 1-0 victory against Sydney FC at ANZ Stadium in 2015.
