Jose Mourinho’s men need a win against Crystal Palace on Sunday to secure a fifth top tier title, having come from a goal down to beat the struggling Foxes 3-1.
Despite having now scored 68 goals this season, the second most in the competition behind defending champion Manchester City (70), the Blues have had to suffer “boring” insults for much of the season.
Mourinho made his thoughts clear on that matter when he shot back at Arsenal fans by telling them boring was not having won a title in a decade. The Portuguese was quick to respond again to the accusation that has in itself become somewhat boring.
“Tonight was not boring for me,” he said. “To be losing at half-time is not boring. It is pressure. The way we played in the second half, against probably the best team we have played in the last month, was fantastic.
“It was a difficult first half, a very good team, very well-organised defensively, pressing very well, closing spaces, very aggressive in the way they play with the ball. In the first half they were a team defending well, trying to score a goal on the counter-attack, which they did.
“In the second half, obviously, the early goal is important but after that we were completely in control. We played so, so well and so fluid, and the goal had to arrive sooner or late. So I think the boys did fantastic.”
Yesterday, Didier Drogba, who struck Chelsea’s leveller in today’s win, also fired back with a video of the team in the dining room trying not to be boring.
