The injury comes as a huge blow to Ibini, who was looking to follow in the footsteps of his former Central Coast Mariners team-mate Mat Ryan in establishing himself as a first team regular at Brugge, which he joined on a three-year deal in June.
Via its official Facebook page, Brugge posted this image of Ibini lying prone at training, with the news he would spend six weeks in a cast and considerable time after that in recovery.

The club tweeted: "Bad luck for bernieibini on the first day of the training camp"
After a stellar season on loan at Sydney FC from Chinese Super League club Shanghai East Asia, Ibini secured a dream move to Europe in the hope of kick-starting his career abroad.
That dream is on ice for the next three months, as players took to Twitter to wish Ibini a speedy recovery.
Ibini's agent was approached for comment.
