The Movistar rider underwent surgery on Thursday after crashing while training near his home in Essex.

Dowsett had planned to attempt to break the UCI Hour Record on 27 February, and after successful surgery believes that its still possible.

"We're trying as hard as we can to make the Perfect Hour on February 27 still work. We might have to call it the 'Almost Perfect Hour' because of this here," joked Dowsett pointing at his collarbone.

Australians Jack Bobridge and Rohan Dennis are the next two riders to attempt the feat, with Bobridge making his attempt in Melbourne on 31 January while BMC's Dennis will race at the UCI velodrome in Aigle, Switzerland in February.
